The comic relief highlights are from the comic relief history and here is what has happened throughout the years of Comic Relief.
In 1985-We have lift Off: BT the brilliant, Oxfam the outstanding On Christmas day; Comic Relief is launched live on BBC ONE from the refugee camp. Also BT has supported comic relief from day one, making them a huge part of success. The BT provide telephone services, call centres and volunteers that enable the comic
relief to take millions of pounds of donations. Oxfam has been a part of Comic Relief since the very beginning. They’ve worked closely on projects to tacklepoverty and social injustice in Africa, and Oxfam have also sold millions of red noses in their shops and online.
In 1988,8th February-The First Red Nose Day. Over 150 celebrities and comedians take part as 30 million viewers watch a long night of TV on the BBC Channel and raised over £15 million. In 1991-Rights no Charity! The Comic relief holds an event to give the disable people in the UK a voice in the decision making that are affecting their lives.
In 1996, March -Omnibus Special. BBC One’s Omnibus is for the Comic Relief’s 10th birthday by giving it a programme all to itself. 2.8 million People tune in. In 1999-Super Sainsbury’s. Sainsbury`s become one of the Comic Relief leading partners and since they have become part of Comic Relief they have gone on to sell almost 60m red noses.
In 2000-Pure magic. one of the bestselling authors JK Rowling has wrote two exclusive books about Harry Potter for comic relief and whoever bought the book the money will go to comic trelief.in total it has earned up a whopping 17 million pounds.
In 2002-Out of the block. The sport relief kicked off and already raised 14 million pounds. In 2003-Howday
Partner. TK MAXX joins Comic Relief to co-operate and raise money. In 2005-Senior Support Comic Relief launched a campaign to draw attention to the plight of older people in the UK who are abused by people they should be able to trust.
In 2009-Top of the World: Nine celebrities including Gary Barlow, Alesha Dixon, Chery Cole, Fearne Cotton and Kimberley Walsh climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and raised over 3million pounds.
In 2010-We Join the Jet Set: Comic Relief joined British Airways to earn money all year round.
In 2011-Walliams takes the Plunge. David Walliams swam 140 miles in the river Thames to raise money
for Sport Relief.
In 2012-Week of Hell: Comedian John Bishop cycled 290 miles to raise money.
