Reading is now a great deal in everyday life. With children and adults reading everyday it is also a skill students are encouraged to improve in and require in school, mostly in the topic of English. Most people find reading boring, but for those who do read a lot; do the things they read effect their emotions? Books like: Immortal instruments, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and a lot more great books, have been known to cause the 'feels'
The feels are known as 'Feeling the feelings of characters' also known as hysterical crying, laughing or dying (Not really dying) However can these also affect us mentally?
There are Authors who shockingly do not kill anyone, then there are the Authors who only violently murder some characters (Most likely our favourite characters) Then we have the evil, crazy, hurtful Authors (Who we still love) who leave barely any characters- or just seem to notice that you love these characters and kill them all! Many tears have been shed over the fictional people we have grown to love but are the tears really necessary?
George RR Martin, Author of the popular series 'Game of thrones' told is fans "I try to make the reader feel they've lived the events in the book. Just as you grieve if a friend is killed, you should grieve if a fictional character is killed." Do you agree?
Some characters are so evil and twisted that it is a relief when they die. However, when we grow attached to a character it is a shock when they are viciously killed. Is it right for Authors to kill off the good characters that they know people love? Most of the murders/deaths are vicious and bloody. They make us gasp and make us re-read the last few lines to check that we red them right.
In conclusion I personally think that the Authors of our era are way to murders. They leave ‘ordinary’ people emotionally unstable and stressed people become attached and grieved. The tears should be saved for something real. Although I do like it when evil characters die, Fred Weasly’s death was not needed.
