More than 1.2 billion people are playing games worldwide, according to a state of the industry report by Spill Games. Of those, about 700 million play online games. That amounts to 44 percent of the world's online population, according to comScore data cited by Spill Games.
I went around asking people what their favourite video games were and the statistics say that it was advanced war fare. This shows that young people like to play games that are violent and the age limit on this game is 18 this shows that people don’t care about the age limits on games .Maybe they think playing all these violent games, will make them cooler than if they played appropriate games .People just want to follow their friends . This is partly the shops faults as they should ask for some ID and sell to people that are the right age to play the game; this could stop under age playing. Shops and schools should show awareness for video games so parents can see why there child is being violent all of a sudden. Bad video games can effect young people’s minds as if they are killing people, they won’t know any better and when there older they won’t know that they can’t go around hurting people .kids can get depressed and can turn to anger when not on a Xbox or playing these violent games they are used.
This is because it is the most violent and children can find it fun when killing people as they might not have any else to do at home .It important that parents spend time with their children and make home life fun and educational. Instead of playing children could read or play outside and get some fresh air.by doing this, it can improve their behaviour; reward your children for good behaviour.
Most of the bad effects of video games are blamed on the violence they contain. Children who play more violent video games are more likely to have increased aggressive thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and decreased prosocial helping, according to a scientific study (Anderson & Bushman, 2001). The effect of video game violence in kids is worsened by the games’ interactive nature. In many games, kids are rewarded for being more violent. The act of violence is done repeatedly. The child is in control of the violence and experiences the violence in his own eyes (killings, kicking, stabbing and shooting). This active participation, repetition and reward are effective tools for learning behaviour. Indeed, many studies seem to indicate that violent video games may be related to aggressive behaviour.
Many experts including Henry Jenkins of Massachusetts Institute of Technology have noted that there is a decreased rate of juvenile crime which coincides with the popularity of games such as Death Race, Mortal Kombat, Doom and Grand Theft auto. He concludes that teenage players are able to leave the emotional effects of the game behind when the game is over. Indeed there are cases of teenagers who commit violent crimes who also spend great amount of time playing video games such as those involved in the Columbine and Newport cases. It appears that there will always be violent people, and it just so happen that many of them also enjoy playing violent video games.
